Cabinet Re-Org

The kitchen cabinet above my pantry was becoming unbearable. It was a mess with everything just stuffed in. When I’d take something out I prayed that something else wouldn’t fall on my head.

It was time for a (small and relatively easy) organization project. I never wanted to start anything too big, like my closet, since I don’t really have the time to devote, but I figured I could handle organizing one cabinet.

Spending money on this little project wasn’t something I wanted to do, it was something I had to do. With less than $20 invested in two cabinet organizers, my cabinets went from this:

to this:
Now, I know you may not see a difference in the before and after pictures, so I will point them out to you.
For the top shelf I bought this:
Now my hot plate, cutting board, pizza plate and hight chair trays are standing up. Makes it easy to see and access. So far, best investment I made.
For the bottom shelf I bought this:
Second best investment I made.

The cabinet still isn’t perfect, but it’s waaayyyy more functional than it was.

So, now that I’m done showing off, you’re probably wondering why I was sharing this.  Well, it all has to do with my love of organizing.  In a different life I wanted to be a professional organizer, but that’s a story for another day.  Anyway, after reading more and more organizing blogs, I decided I have to take action in my own home.  Baby steps…
What have you organized lately?  What do you wish you had time to organize?

Until next time,
Shaindy

  1. Those are both great ideas. Boxes of Ziploc bags and aluminum foil just don’t always stay in place without something like what you bought.

One day, I’d love to convert my cabinet shelves into pull-out drawers. Those are seriously the smartest invention ever.

    • Pull-out drawers are totally awesome! But they aren’t very practical for the top shelves. Maybe one day someone will create a pull-down type of shelf so everyone, no matter what their height, can reach it!

  2. Where did you get those cabinet organizers?

  3. Impressed 🙂
