Inside Out Apple Crisp

Happy Chanuka everyone!  This post is part of a Chanukah Blog Party!  See below for links to the party and info on how to enter the GIVEAWAY!  {Giveaway has now been closed}

While thinking of traditional freezer-friendly Chanuka foods, I also thought how interesting it would be to think outside the box and change things up a bit!  I absolutely love latkes, but I don’t like them with applesauce.  I do however love baked apples, so figured that if I’d throw a party, I’d include these in lieu of the applesauce:

Inside Out Apple Crisp

Adapted from Once a Month Mom and Sweet Remedy

Materials

  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 4 medium apples cored
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup

Instructions

  • Pre-heat oven to 350
  • Mix the rolled oats, cinnamon, butter and brown sugar together in a small bowl.
  • Place the apples in a deep baking pan then fill the apples with the rolled oat and cinnamon mixture (don't fill too much or else apples will burst).
  • Drizzle maple syrup over the tops of the apples
  • Bake at 350 for 30 minutes or until apples are soft

Notes

Cool the apples until they are room temperature.
Individually wrap each apple in plastic wrap or aluminum foil.
Arrange the wrapped apples in airtight container or freezer storage bag.
Label your food!
Place in freezer for up to 60 days.
