Last Week of Maternity Leave

And so begins my last week of maternity leave.  Whah Whah.

Well, officially I go back to work the week following Pesach, but since I would’ve taken off for Pesach anyway and the kids will be home the entire time, I’m considering this my last week.

The feelings about my impending return to work are bittersweet.  On the one hand, life while on leave has been great.  I can shop and cook at my own convenience and I’m always available for my kids.  At the end of the day I’m not super tired or super hungry and have more patience for everyone because overall there is much less that needs to get done every night.

On the other hand, it’ll be exciting to go back to work and have adult interactions.  I already have some great career objectives in mind for this year and can’t wait to start working on them.  Of course I’ll miss DS3, who has spent every day since his birth with me, but I know he’ll be just fine in daycare.

Life will definitely be more hectic when I return to work, so I’m making a list of everything that I want to do before my big return.  These things will have to wait until after Pesach, since I’d like to do most of them as close to my return as possible.  I also don’t want it to interfere with my Pesach prep!

Here’s my list so far.  I’m sure I’ve missed things, so I’ll probably be adding to it pretty frequently as things pop into my mind.

  1. Costco– stock up on snacks, salmon, bread, and other food basics
  2. Find pump parts– oh the life of a working-mom with an infant!
  3. Prepare DS3 for daycare– formula, bottles, milk storage bags, extra clothes, etc…  I’ll have to find a list online
  4. KOAMC day– I want to stock my freezer with some basic kugels.  Better start working on my plan now!

Can you tell me what I’m missing?

Until next time,
Shaindy

Feminists who say they’re having it all—by choosing to stay home.”
