FrozenQueRy- A Freezer Inventory App

Wow, there really is an app for everything! I recently mentioned that I’m trying to plan weekly menus for our family and figured I’d look for an app. I didn’t find exactly what I was looking for, but I did find this- a freezer inventory app called FrozenQueRy.
This app allows you to create a label for each food in your freezer with a QR-code. You scan each item as you put it in your freezer to create the inventory and then scan it once more when you take it out of the freezer so it’s removed from your inventory list.

With an updated freezer inventory, menu planning should be a breeze. Sure beats my current system of not keeping an inventory list. I haven’t actually tried this out yet- not sure I have enough time on my hands, but I will definitely keep it in mind for my future KOAMC menu plans!

This app is free, with of course a paid upgraded version (not sure what the difference is).

Check it out!

How do you keep track of what’s in your freezer?

Until next time,
Shaindy

  1. This sounds great, but I don’t think I’d ever keep it up. I have a whiteboard on my freezer with a dry erase marker and eraser pinned up as well. I write what I add and erase what I take out. It’s low tech, but that’s how it works for me – fewer steps!

  2. Shaindy,
What is your opinion about microwavable plastic containers? I use them to freeze and to heat my meals, but I started to hear (more and more)that heating food in plastic (even microwavable!) is not really safe.

    • I also use plastic containers to freeze my food, but don’t usually heat it up in them. I haven’t done extensive research on the health/safety factor, but basically if it says microwave-safe you should be ok (those are FDA regulated). Stay away from heating other plastics, like water bottles and yogurt containers. Hope that helps!
