What I’ve Been Up To, Where I’ve Been and Where I’m Going

busy

So much has been going on lately, so I thought I’d post an update to let you guys know I haven’t forgotten about this little ole blog.  In fact, I really want to continue blogging here. It’s a great hobby/outlet for me and it’s something I truly enjoy.

So, as I mentioned, I’ve been busy. Super super busy. You know the saying- when it rains it pours. Everything always has to happen at the same time, but B”h it’s all been good stuff.

1. We moved!

We moved into a new home a few blocks away from our previous one. This move still came with a lot of stress and a ton of boxes. After a week of being in our new home we’ve been able to unpack most of our boxes. DH has been working hard at this and really made sure that we wouldn’t be living out of boxes for too long. We still need to purchase a few more items, but overall we have exactly what we need.

While we researched other communities we’ve decided to stay where we are, but wanted a larger home. One with a master bathroom and an office. We got that, but moved a little further from the center of town to get what we wanted. Life is full of compromises.

2. New Job

I’m still at the same company and even the same department, but a few months ago was asked if I would transfer to a newly formed group within the department. I decided to take advantage of the opportunity and make the move. I don’t know exactly what’s in store for me, so I have been a bit nervous. This new group is global so I’m assuming that my schedule may change slightly to accommodate that. Our first team meeting was at 6:30 am, just to give you a taste of what I’m up against.

3. Support group

A long time ago I saw an ad in Binah magazine for Hasviva.  HaSviva, is an organziation geared to supporting frum women in the workplace, in response to the spiritual challenges that one may face. I emailed the address in the ad and was sent an invite to a webinar that I unfortunately could not attend. Since then I haven’t heard from them until last week when they announced they were starting a support group in my town. I jumped at the opportunity to spend time with other working women and it was great.

While the women in the group seem much frummer than me, I feel that I have so much to gain from them. They work in all different fields (not just teachers and therapists like I expected) and we hope to meet every 4-6 weeks. I highly encourage you to reach out to Hasviva or start your own group.

In all honesty I was considering forming my own group, but was going to wait until we were settled into our new home. Now I don’t have to go through that trouble and I’m meeting new people as a result. Funnily enough, I even met one of the group coordinators at the supermarket the next day.

So, that’s what’s been going on in my life. Now that my kids are back to school after a week of vacation and we are somewhat settled in our new home I’m hoping that we can get back into a good evening routine. Wish me luck!

What have you been up to lately?

Until next time,
Shaindy

  1. Hasviva sounds like a wonderful idea, and good for you to jump at the chance to get involved when you already have such a packed schedule. I’d love to hear more about that in future posts!

    • So far we’ve only had one meeting, so we’ll see how it goes! I believe the meetings will only be once every 4-6 weeks for an hour and I really want to make an effort to fit it into my schedule.
