I’m Lovin’ Bloglovin’

I finally found my Google Reader replacement. It’s called BlogLovin’ and it’s even better than Google Reader. I know- it’s hard to believe, but it really is better.

A few months ago when I found out that Google Reader is going away, I was crushed. I had a whole blog-reading process already in place and it was working so well for me! My reader was synced between my work computer, home computer and even my phone! I loved the way each post was formatted and how easy it was to use. But alas, all good things must come to an end.

As with most Google Reader lovers, I immediately scrambled to find a replacement. I read reviews and even tried out a few, but the one I liked most was BlogLovin’. Its differences from other readers really made me fall in love with it.

The main feature I like is that I get to read each blog post on the blog itself. I get to see the way the blog was designed, which I can truly appreciate, because when I’m not writing blog posts, I’m wasting spending time on possible new blog templates for my own blog. Blog design helps tell the story of each blogger and it was something I was missing in Google Reader. In Google Reader all the blog posts look exactly alike and as I started following more blogs it became harder to tell which blog I was reading.

Here’s how it works… you sign up for a new account and import your Google Reader blog list. Once that’s set up, you can click on your unread blogs and a new window opens up. It’s the actual blog page you are reading with the addition of this little toolbar at the top:

All you do is use the ‘older’ and ‘newer’ buttons to scroll through your reader! It’s really that simple.

One benefit to reading blogs this way is that you can comment right on the page and don’t have to do any extra clicking. We all know how bloggers love hearing from their readers 😉

Bloglovin’ also has an app for iPhone and Android, but I don’t think it’s as good as the Google Reader app was and doesn’t have the same features as the website. I’m still getting used to it and in all honesty haven’t had much time to really use it. I know that they are constantly coming out with updates, so I’m hoping that in time, it’ll be a really great app.

Were you a Google Reader fan? Which reader are you switching to?

Until next time,
