Own Your Life – Make Small Changes with Big Impact

own your life

A while ago I attended a free webinar called “Own Your Life.”

It was run by a religious Christian woman and she was joined by 3 friends to discuss taking charge of your life and making it the best it could be.

It was so encouraging to see the number of people join. We all have busy lives and want to make the best of them. We’re definitely not alone. It’s not only me who has struggled with devoting the right amount of time to family, religion, work and myself.

There were so many topics discussed in such a short amount of time. Honestly, it was a little bit of overload for me. So many questions were asked and I didn’t quite know the answer to most of them. Each theme discussed really made me think long and hard about what I want my life to be like and gave me encouragement that with the right amount of effort I could make it happen.

  1. What keeps you from living your own life?
  2. Are you living a life full of faith or fear?
  3. How do you react when life didn’t turn out the way you thought?
  4. Does guilt hold you back?

These are all the types of questions I like to avoid. They require real thinking and introspection. Thinking about these things takes quiet time that this working mom does not have much of!

So, I finally made the time to think some of these things through. Here are some of the things I learned from this process and some things I’d like to work on.

Life Lessons I Learned

♥ Stop making excuses.  I don’t need to rationalize the fact that I don’t fold laundry when instead I am spending time with my kids.  And I have to stop saying I’m too busy when in fact I am really being lazy and not making time for things that could potentially be great.

♥ Step out of my comfort zone, take chances and have faith that Hashem has my back

♥ Life’s not what I thought it would be like, but that doesn’t mean it’s bad.  In fact, it’s quite awesome… I just have to remember that more often.

♥ Take one step at a time and trust Hashem. HE will give you what you need.

♥ Circumstances change over time. Be content at where you are in life.

♥ Don’t be looking to live someone else’s life

♥ Create the life you want. Don’t let anyone hold you back. Work around them and give yourself permission to invest in yourself. It helps you love your family.

♥ Your children don’t need your productivity as much as they need your presence

♥ Love who Hashem made you

What life lessons do you think are important to remember?

Until next time,
Shaindy
