Download Free Jewish Music

Good free Jewish music isn’t always easy to find.  See what I found for us to listen to on a recent family trip!

Over the summer I took my kids to the beach. This was a big deal.

I hate the sand and really prefer to be indoors. But, the rest of the family was going and I didn’t want my kids watching videos the entire day so I took them. We ended up having an awesome time, btw. I may even take them again next summer.

Anyway, the beach is a little over an hour away from us, so I figured it would be the perfect time to make a new CD with my kids. I’m not really into buying CDs – they are expensive, especially if you don’t like all the songs on them. Instead, what I started to do was to download individual songs that my kids enjoy. We then burn them onto a CD and listen to them in the car. My kids get to choose their favorite songs, I choose a few of my own and we have an awesome set of music!

Our CDs

We’ve made 2 CDS so far. I bought all the music for the first CD from Amazon. Some songs were 89¢ and the others were 99¢.

Since all the songs from our first CD are on our Amazon music account we can also listen to them on our Amazon Echo, which my kids love. Imagine our house at 7:30am: squeaky voiced 4-year old yelling on top of his lungs, “Alexa, play ‘Hashem Melech!'”

Fun times.

The second time around, not all the songs we wanted were available on Amazon, so we downloaded some from MostlyMusic.com

Free Jewish Music

While I was on the Mostly Music site I saw that there were a ton of free downloads, so we made sure to get some of those as well. I think the best find was the free CD from the Shabbos Project. Since next week is The Shabbos Project, I thought it would be a great time to share this free resource with you.  You can download it here.

Playing Shabbos music on Friday afternoons is one of my favorite ways to get into the mood for what’s to come.  Once you download the music you can play it directly from your computer, add it to your phone, create a CD or even add it to your Amazon account so you can play it on your Echo.

Here are the additional free songs we downloaded:
