I woke up on the wrong side of the bed today. 4:45am is not a time we should be waking up, but that’s when I woke up. I was about to fall back asleep when DS1 called me from his room to tell me he had another accident. It was his second accident, but it happened the night after the first one. I guess I jinxed everything by posting about my potty-training success 🙁 I know accidents happen, but I was tired as it was and I didn’t want to have to deal with this too… especially at 5am!
After I got DS1 all changed he refused to go back to sleep and began crying until DH gave him the iPad to watch. Not our finest parenting moment, but it made him be really quiet so I could rest for the next hour. At 6am I still hadn’t fallen back asleep so I did a load of laundry. I know it’s the 9 days and I’ve been trying my best, but the thought of having soaked sheets and blankets not cleaned until next week made me throw the laundry in.
With one less thing on my mind, I then crossed another thing off my list and took the Shabbos food out of the freezer. I went back to bed and fell asleep… until an hour later when two little boys began jumping on me. By then I was so exhausted that I really didn’t find it funny. I tried to get them to rest with me, but they are entering this new stage where they jump on each other until I interfere. Again- not what I wanted to be doing in the morning.
Of course things didn’t get much better from there. Both kids refused to get dressed, DH decided to take a late shower and I couldn’t find anything to wear (the big boss was coming in today, so I couldn’t look like a total mess).
By the time we all made it into the car in the morning I was totally in tears. Why can’t things go the way they are supposed to??? I felt bad because the entire way to daycare DS1 kept asking me if I was happy, to which I responded, “No.” I dropped the kids off (made sure to give them each a kiss) and then was off to work with nothing to really look forward to.
So that was my morning and that’s why I treated myself to lunch, even though I did that yesterday. Some people buy shoes, some buy clothes and I buy food.
Until next time,
