Hot, Homemade Lunch at Work

Happy Chanuka everyone!  This year I bought myself a gift and I want to tell you all about it!

giftYou see, I always struggle when it comes to packing myself lunch for work. I’m tired, don’t love to cook and really prefer to eat hot food over a cold sandwich. So lately I’ve found myself spending a lot of money on lunch. And honestly, I don’t always get the healthiest food.

So, I decided that needed to change. I had to make more of an effort to save money and eat healthy. Problem was that I didn’t really know what kind of lunches to pack.

In the past I went through my salad phase. That was great, but now that I work near kosher restaurants I really crave a warm lunch.

I thought about just making more instant potato soup mix, but that isn’t super healthy either. And there’s no variety in having the same lunch every day!

Enter the Crock-Pot® Lunch Crock® Food Warmer.

lunch-crock-potIt was sometime last year when I saw this lunch size crock pot for the first time. My department was in the process of moving and my commute was about to change. I didn’t want to add any bulk to my already heavy bag, so the thought of a lunch crock pot disappeared.

That is until recently when the idea of the lunch crock pot reentered my mind. It’s travel safe, spill proof and will guarantee a hot lunch.

lunch-crock-pot1It was the perfect solution for my hot lunch dilemma.  It’s perfect for packing Shabbos leftovers, stews, chili and any kind of soup.  It heats up easily and I’m hoping it will save me money in the long run.

There’s one more thing I want to mention.

I was recently sent a link to Suppers for a Year Cookbook.  It’s a free kosher cookbook with 52 weeks of meal ideas.  I’ve already started reading through it and can’t wait to try some of the recipes.  I’m hoping it’ll help inspire me to start cooking for my lunch too!

What do you take to work for lunch?  Do you find yourself eating out more than you probably should?

Until next time,
